Mattel created a one off special CARS collector case to be auctioned off to raise money for the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (CAAF). The charity event was called the Dream Halloween. Below is a recap of the event. This information came directly from the CAAF website.

On Saturday, October 27, 2007, Dream Halloween© Los Angeles was held. Host Jamie Lee Curtis came dressed as a Ringmaster for the "Under the Big Top" themed event. Receiving the Ribbon of Dreams© Industry Award was Universal Studios. Honorary Event Chair for the evening was Teri Hatcher and Honorary Vice Chairs were Doris Roberts and Jason Priestly. Chairing the Skeleton Crew for the event was Andrea Bowen and the Vice Chair was Rumer Willis. Co-Chairs of the vent were Bob Eckert, Chairman & CEO, Mattel Inc. and Jerry Storch, Chairman & CEO, Toys 'R Us, Inc. Their firms Mattel, Inc. and Toys 'R Us, Inc. have been Co-Founding and Presenting Sponsors for the entire 14 years, since the event's inception. The event raised more than $1 million. Other Major Sponsors included American Airlines and Jones Day Law Firm. The event was also supported by Jill and Tom Barad, Besser Design Group, DHL, Freeman, Latham & Watkins, Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, LLP and Universal Studios.
The display case made by Mattel sold for $13,000 when the president of Mattel and the Pixar "Crew" got into a bidding war. Below are some specifications on the custom display case.
- Size 32" H x 32" W x 6" D, Weight Approx. 20-30 lbs. Holds 70 slots for up to 75-80 cars.
- Holds two Exclusive deco McQueen Cars. - a Red Rangsburg Lightning McQueen and a Dinoco Blue Rangsburg McQueen (also known as Blu Ray McQueen).
- Cars logo cut from solid billet aluminum. The case has custom lighting.
- Signed by John Lasseter.
- Wood Billboard frame.
- Free standing base or can be hung on wall.
- More than $300 dollars worth of diecast cars.
In addition this set contained early releases of 2008 Cars diecast characters.
